Janice W., 45, had some previous modeling experience, but none quite like her time with Amoena in Paris. “The atmosphere [at Salon International de la Lingerie] was fantastic,” she says. “I thought it was a good opportunity to show women who have had breast surgery that we can look and feel beautiful in our underwear!”

One of 10 #RealModels recently chosen in an open casting call by Amoena, Janice, a nurse who lives in Ireland, was diagnosed with Stage II breast cancer on her right side in 2009. She has had bilateral mastectomies.

She was delighted to be part of the show, supported by a company that made her feel special. “Modeling made me feel proud of myself and what I have come through. I have always been a positive, fun person but this experience has really made me appreciate every day even more. Women can move on to have a full life after breast cancer. We need to appreciate what we have – stay positive – and be good to ourselves.”
