Empowering Survivors: The Boobie Queen Company's Mission to Support Mental Health for Breast Cancer Fighters

In today's world, mental health is increasingly recognized as a vital aspect of recovery from illness -- especially for breast cancer survivors. The emotional toll of breast cancer, which deeply affects body image and self-identity, can be just as significant as the physical trials. Left unaddressed, poor mental health can lead to compromised immune systems, heightened fatigue, anxiety and depression. Fortunately, organizations like The Boobie Queen Company are stepping up to fill the gaps in mental health support for survivors.

The Boobie Queen Company is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by Whitney O'Connor, a two-timer breast cancer survivor and licensed counselor. Diagnosed at just 30 years old, Whitney faced not only the physical battle of breast cancer but also the mental health challenges of survivorship. The most difficult part of her recovery, however, was the lack of community with few other women her age to turn to with the same issues and similar struggles.

Taking action for mental health

This experience inspired Whitney to take action. The Boobie Queen Company was born out of her vision to empower women through modern mental health therapies, the creation of supportive communities for young breast cancer survivors, and the celebration of survivors as "Queens" who deserve to be uplifted and recognized for their strength.

Handcrafted from real bras and adorned with sparkling embellishments, these crowns frequently appear in social media posts and stories from breast cancer survivors. But they're more than just accessories -- they are symbols of love, support, and empowerment. They remind us that there is light even in life's darkest places.

Anyone can purchase a Boobie Crown in the Crown Shop for a friend or family member or nominate a deserving survivor to receive a crown for free. For every crown purchased, the organization gifts another to a nominated survivor. This "give one, get one" model not only spreads joy but also helps fund the organizations other vital initiatives.

BreastRest: Recovery and Sisterhood

Recognizing a critical gap in mental health services for breast cancer survivors, The Boobie Queen Company created BreastRest, a retreat designed specifically for women under 45 who are within three years of completing treatment. These retreats provide a safe, nurturing space where survivors can bond, share their experiences, and build lasting friendships. Whitney, being both a young survivor and a therapist, tailors the workshops to focus on mental health recovery and managing the emotional effects of breast cancer.

Because of donations and partnerships, BreastRest retreats are free to survivors and provide not only a community of like-minded women, but also healing, pampering, and celebration. These breast cancer survivors all take a chance, arrive as strangers, and leave as sisters.

Celebrating and empowering women together

When Amoena learned the mission of the non-profit behind them, we knew we shared a unique synergy. We're proud to be partnering with the Boobie Queen Company in October 2024.  Purchases of our Leonie bra & panty set nationwide will benefit this group during breast cancer awareness month. Together we'll continue to uplift women and provide the support they need throughout their recovery journey.

By supporting mental health initiatives like BreastRest retreat and celebrating survivors through the iconic Boobie Crowns, we can help ensure that no woman faces the emotional aftermath of breast cancer alone. These survivors, these amazing Boobie Queens, deserve to be celebrated and empowered every step of the way.
